Charlie Winston is a British singer-songwriter, and the brother of Tom Baxter. Born in Cornwall, he grew up in Bungay, Suffolk.
Charlie Winston and the Oxymorons, commonly referred to as Charlie Winston are the band which Winston lends his name to. Members include Winston, harmonicist Ben Edwards and bass guitarist Elf Lord Taylor. In 2007 Charlie Winston toured with Peter Gabriel. Their debut album titled "Make Way" was described as "inspired and seductive".
They are perhaps most notable for their cover of "I'm a Man" which appeared on an advert for Volkswagen Polo in 2008. The advert, which featured a dog miming the words, was banned after complaints from the RSPCA and over 750 viewers.
